Psalms 25:14
Psalm 25:14 “The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.”
John 4:24 “God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth (reality).”
The first thing I think about when I contemplate worshipping God is a worship service at church with everyone singing praises to Jesus with raised hands. And that reminds me of several years ago, our church had a special worship service on a Wednesday night, once a month. It was glorious! Powerful! Bringing all of us into heavenlies and into the Presence of God! In fact, we had to turn off the lights in the sanctuary at 10:30 P.M. to make the congregation go home! All month long, the worshippers would wait expectantly for that night. Wonderful! There is something so beautiful about corporate worship.
But we shouldn’t have to wait for a Sunday morning service or a once-a-month service to worship our magnificent Lord Jesus Christ! Worship should be an attitude of the heart, where we adore our Lord with every ounce of our strength, every moment of every day! Worshiping our Lord and honoring Him for Himself alone should be the top priority in our lives, no matter the circumstances that surround us.
When our eyes are focused on Jesus at all times, worship should well up from our innermost being like fresh, sparkling water persistently bubbling up from an artesian well. God calls us to worship in every circumstance. In fact, the deepest form of worship is when we can praise God despite the pain, thank God during the trial, trust God when we’re tempted to lose hope and love God when He seems distant & far away.
At my lowest-Jesus is my Hope. Psalm 62:5 “For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, for my hope is from Him”.
At my darkest-Jesus is my Light. John 8:12 “Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life.”
At my weakest-Jesus is my Strength. 2 Timothy 2:1 “So you, my son, be strong [constantly strengthened] and empowered in the grace that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus.”
At my saddest-Jesus is my Comfort Psalm 119:50 “This is my comfort in my affliction, That Your Word has revived me and given me life.”
Conclusion: Psalm 29:2 “Give to the Lord the glory due to His Name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness or in holy array.” Jude 1:24-25 “Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the Presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]— to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”
