Psalms 16:11
I love this picture taken at the Hippo Pond in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. It reminds me of God’s great faithfulness to us, when as a little girl, Jesus promised that I would go to Africa as a missionary.
“You will show me the path of life; In Your Presence is fullness of joy. In Your Right Hand there are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11
The first phrase of this scripture promises us that the Lord will show us the path of Life, the path we are to follow all the days of our lives. Clearly, He is referring to an intimate relationship with Himself, Jesus Christ, Who is the “Way, the Truth and the Life,” for all to follow. John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.” Inexpressible joy is for all those who find this path and pursue Jesus Himself with every ounce of energy we possess. But, wait, there is more! In Luke 10:38-42 (NLT) the good doctor, Luke, shares, “As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Jesus Himself declared to all who would listen that the most important thing, the only thing necessary for each Christian is to stay in the Presence of Jesus, to gaze into His lovely Face, to listen intently to every Word He speaks to each of us and to enjoy an intimate relationship with Jesus, our Lord and Savior. This is the formula for fulness of joy-staying in the Presence of Jesus Christ and experiencing pleasures forevermore.

I am confident that our Lord Jesus delights in our worship, our adoration. He dwells in our praises. And Nehemiah 8:10 reveals that “the joy of the Lord is our strength.” No matter what we have to face in this lifetime, we can be assured that our dearest Friend, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, walks beside us, giving us strength for the day and exuberant joy in His Presence along the way.
