Isaiah 44:22
Isaiah 44:22 New Living Translation 22 “I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.”
My husband, Charlie and I had the wonderful privilege while we lived in Moshi, Tanzania pf having a spectacular view of Mt Kilimanjaro from our back yard. Often, my dear husband would try to take a picture of the mountain. But because the mountain was covered with a thick layer of fog until about 11 am each day, he would have to wait until the mist would gently glide away before he could take a picture.
This scripture seems to be so appropriate, spotlighting the fog moving slowly across Mt Kili when Charlie snapped this excellent picture. Both the picture and the scripture are extremely beautiful to me.
I love the thought that through the enormous sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross, that now we who believe on Him are free from any punishment for sin of every kind. In fact, the Word says that God intentionally forgives and forgets all of our sins. Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful and gracious toward their sins, and I will remember their deeds of unrighteousness no more.” And when satan tries to accuse us before the Throne of God, we have an Advocate namely, Jesus Christ Who continually stands before the Throne making intercession for the saints. 1 John 2:1-2 “My little children, I write you these things so that you may not violate God’s law and sin. But if anyone should sin, we have an Advocate (One Who will intercede for us) with the Father—[it is] Jesus Christ [the all] righteous [upright, just, Who conforms to the Father’s will in every purpose, thought, and action]. 2And He [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins, and not for ours alone but also for [the sins of] the whole world.” As long as Jesus stands before the Throne and intercedes for us, we are forgiven. What an excellent thought on which to meditate!
But what about when the enemy of our souls not only reminds us of our shortcomings and the sin that so easily besets us but makes us feel guilty for those sins from which our Lord Jesus has already saved us? Remembering that God’s holds nothing against us, we can rebuke satan by using the marvelous Name of Jesus, which always makes the enemy flee. And we have the Word of God, in the form of Rhema Words, promises from the Lord especially made to thwart the enemy 100% of the time! In closing, just a little reminder that through the power of the Holy Spirit living in us, we have the power to do what 2 Corinthians 10:5-6 tells us. “ [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
