Isaiah 30:21
Isaiah 30:21 “And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.”
( I love this picture so much because it is the well-worn path in front of my house in Moshi, Tanzania. In the middle of the picture, to the left, you can see my driveway.)
Each and every believer can joyfully proclaim with David this beautiful Psalms 23:3 “He leads me in paths of righteousness for His Name’s sake.”
Each of us is on a journey of Life. But on this journey, we travel down numerous paths—highways of great joy & happiness; roadways of achievement & victory; footpaths into deep, winding valleys of devastating loss or unbearable heartache; and dead-end alleyways of stinging disappointment. But the Word of God says that through all the joys and sorrows of life, God leads us down the most important path of righteousness.
Psalms 25:10 says, “All the paths of the Lord are mercy and steadfast love, even truth and faithfulness are they for those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.” And Romans 14:17 says, “[After all] the kingdom of God is not a matter of [getting the] food and drink [one likes], but instead it is righteousness (that state which makes a person acceptable to God) and [heart] peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” As we acknowledge our great need for Jesus Christ and surrender ourselves to His leading, He will Guide us safely through this life right into the Presence of Father God. “In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6) What a wonderful Promise from the Lord!
But when it comes to finding a relationship with God, there are not several paths, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, spiritualism, Christianity, that will lead us all to the same end-the Throne of God. The Word of God is very clear about the way to get to heaven-through repentance, and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Jesus declared, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.” (John 14:6) We would have no way of knowing the right path except that God, in His great mercy, sent Jesus Christ to first reveal the character of Father God to us through experiencing Jesus’ Character; then to hold us securely by the hand and lead us into the Presence of the Father. Jesus Christ is the Only Path to God.
Our journey in life is to not only find Jesus but to spend our life pursuing an intimate relationship with Him. Philippians 3:9-10 “And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers],”
Our Lord’s greatest desire is for all to know Jesus as Lord and Savior, to allow Him to cover us at salvation, with the robe of righteousness, setting us in right standing with the Father, II Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” May I encourage you to walk on this path of righteousness with Christ as your Leader and Guide. John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me.” Jesus is the Way. Jesus is the Truth. Jesus is the Life. Great adventures await you, more spectacular than you could ever imagine. Our Lord is magnificent and cares for us with such tenderness! (I Peter 5:7 Amplified Version) You can trust His Goodness. “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, [once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”
