2 Chronicles 20:15&17
There was a time when the kings of Moab, Ammon and the Meunites sent their vast armies to war against Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah. Word reached Jehoshaphat when the armies were already at Engedi. Badly shaken, the king called for a nation-wide fast. As a nation, they prayed for the Lord to rescue them.
2 Chronicles 20:13-18 “As the people from every part of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children, 14 the Spirit of the Lord came upon one of the men standing there—Jahaziel. 15 “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O king Jehoshaphat!” he exclaimed. “The Lord says, ‘Don’t be afraid! Don’t be paralyzed by this mighty army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s! 17 But you will not need to fight! Take your places; stand quietly and see the incredible rescue operation God will perform for you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem! Don’t be afraid or discouraged! Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you! 18Then King Jehoshaphat fell to the ground with his face to the earth, and all the people of Judah and the people of Jerusalem did the same, worshiping the Lord!”
Then King Jehoshaphat commanded a choir of singers, dancers, clothed in sanctified garments and singing the song “His Loving-Kindness Is Forever” should lead the march into battle!”
Can you just picture the scene. Singers and dancers dressed in white going before the army of Judah. And the moment they started to sing, the Lord caused the enemy armies to start killing each other.
So, when the army of Judah arrived at the battlefield, as far as they could see, there were dead bodies lying on the ground—not a single one of the enemy had escaped! Praise the Lord! It took three days to collect all the spoil. On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, as it is called today, and how they praised the Lord!
How does that story apply to us today? Are you facing overwhelming circumstances? Ephesians 6:12, “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”
Everything that threatens us, must bow to the Name of Jesus. In prayer, submit the situation to the Lord. Philippians 2:10, ”That in (at) the Name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.” Let’s let the Lord Jesus be our Champion, the One Who fights for us and wins every battle. And, like King Jehoshaphat let’s give Him praise before we see the outcome.
